Description
Set number '70' of an edition limited to 150 sets. Printed from the original woodblocks on a Columbian hand-press by John and Rosalind Randle and Miriam Macgregor, with the help of Jane Lyons and Simon Lawrence. The paper is Camber Sand hand-made from Hayle Mill. The set of sheets comprises of thirteen sheets (including a title sheet) being 'An Almanac of twelve Sports'; thirteen sheets (including a title sheet) being 'London Types' each showing a type of character to be seen on the streets of London; six sheets of 'Unused Versions'. Each sheet is 400 x 290mm and has a loosely inserted tissue guard. Each group of sheets is separated by an orange card with the printed title of the group. TOGETHER WITH copy number '70' of an edition of 225 copies of a booklet entitled 'William Nicholson's | An Almanac of twelve Sports | and London Types | An introduction to the reprint | from the original woodblocks' by Edward Craig, hand-set in Caslon trype and signed by the author on the colophon; printed, orange card covers; Quarto, 320 x 255 mm, pp. 16. All housed in a brown cloth covered board box with a cream cloth interior and with woodblock prints to the upper lid board and to the spine and a paper label on the inside of the box lid.
