Description

One of an edition limited to 266 copies printed on a special making of Magnani mould-made paper, 210 of which (this being one) were bound in quarter cloth and patterned paper over boards and housed in a cloth and paper bound board slipcase. Of the remainder, 44 numbered copies were bound in quarter vellum and included a print from a copper engraving, and six, lettered A to F, included an additional set of the engravings printed on gampi vellum. The Van Dijck type was set by Peter J. Sanderson at Whittington. Gilt lettering to the spine within a framed and recessed black ground. Folio, 13" x 9½" pp. [1-6] 7-87 [5, including the colophon], fully illustrated in colour and black-and-white, with many illustrations tipped-in. A typed letter, addressed 'To the Press' customers', dated September 14th, 1999, is laid in and contains substantial detail about the contents of the book.
