Second American Edition (the first American trade edition), later issue, third state dust wrapper. Publisher's grey brown buckram, on front cover [crossed swords device], gilt lettering to spine, red and yellow head and tail bands, top edge stained red. Clear, removable, archival protective sleeve fitted to the dust wrapper which bears the title in red and a red sketch portrait of Lawrence by Augustus John on front panel, red title to spine and other lettering in black; the rear panel has a red sketch portrait of Lawrence by Augustus John with an extract from the review by Vincent Sheean entitled "An Immortal Book". Housed in a brown card slipcase with title plate attached [red frame with black lettering and a red sketch portrait of Lawrence by Augustus John]. Collation: 25 X 19.5 cm: [1-42]8, 336 leaves, pp. [1-6] 7-672 with 48 plates, 4 maps printed in red and black. Published at $5.00 on 27th September 1935.
