Publisher's black cloth with blind frame rules to front board and gilt lettering to spine, offsetting to endpapers. Clear, removable, archival protective sleeve fitted to incomplete dust-jacket which has loss to head and tail of spine and top edge of rear panel. Octavo. pp. [l], Volume One 1-624, Volume Two 1-690, complete with all plates, illustrations, some folding, and maps, including the large coloured map at the rear.
Condition
The book is in Very Good condition with some superficial marks to the cloth and pushing at extremities, and very occasional light scatttered spotting. The dust-jacket is rare and this one has some loss, but all of the reviews printed on its front and rear panels are present.
