First Edition. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. Octavo. pp. xx, 377, [1 blank], with frontispiece portrait and 43 plates (photographs and maps). Presented and inscribed by the author to Richard Edgcumbe (1843-1937): 'To my dear old friend "the Admiral" with my best love Toby July 4 1923. I do hope you'll find it interesting & tell me what you think as I value your opinion above all others'.
